In the earliest days of Magic, Orcs were quite weak, but in recent years especially given the Dungeons & Dragons-inspired Magic sets there have been decent choices to round out an Orc deck

That flexibility made it a key ah ha type card that again made it clearer that there was more to each card than met the eye

Its cool that if you get a ton of instants and sorceries in your graveyard that this will kill anything, but the fact that it will do nothing in the early game does hold it back a little bit

This was abandoned until relatively recently, and I think the idea was that WOTC wanted each artwork to instantly tell you what card it is

Don't forget, though, that you can only activate this ability at sorcery speed
